Robert joined Strata at the start of 2009 and has been Managing Partner since 2014. He focuses primarily on the software, IT services & e-commerce sectors. At Strata, he has advised companies such as Future Thinking, Luxoft, Oxatis, Sage and Warburg Pincus on buyside projects; Amadeus IT Group and thetrainline.com on disposals; Aurix, Debitoor, Fits.me, Holvi and Vayant on sales transactions; and Drivr, Fits.me, Future Thinking, Quintel, VitalFields and WorldOne on equity and debt capital raises and minority stake sales. Robert’s private equity and venture capital clients at Strata have included Bridgepoint Europe, HgCapital, NEVEQ, Next Wave Partners, SmartCap (now Tera Ventures), Trillium International and Warburg Pincus.
In his investment banking career before Strata from 1996 to 2008, Robert acted on a variety of buyside and sellside M&A transactions, LBOs, privatisations, and IPOs and other equity capital markets transactions at Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Robert Fleming & Co, Dresdner Kleinwort and Credit Suisse. Selected technology transactions he worked on previously include the €4.3bn LBO of Amadeus Global Travel Distribution; a number of acquisitions for Misys, including the acquisition of Sunquest Information Systems; acquisitions by Hellman & Friedman and Morse plc; Staffware’s sale to TIBCO Software; sales for Electronic Data Systems and Vista Equity; and PayPoint’s IPO on the LSE.
Robert studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University. He speaks English, French and German and has lived and worked in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the UK and the US (California and New York).
